THE REMARKABLE CAREER OF YANNIK COLLIN

YANNIK COLLIN

What does it take to become a successful actor in Hollywood? A good question, to be sure and some people have analyzed it and found that there are several elements involved: talent, intelligence and drive. Yannik Collin, the Canadian actor, seems to have all three and much, much more going for him.

Yannik had been in Los Angeles for just over two years and already he’s performed on stage, in films and television and in music videos. His talent along with his intelligence and his enormous personal drive to succeed have all been a part of him becoming an established actor in the heart of the film industry. He played the lead role in the play All In The Timing at the Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica, California. Some of the films he has been in are: Battle Of The Sexes, I’m Not Here, The Mad Whale and United, to name a few. Yannik appeared as a missionary in the popular TV series Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, and in Roadies, directed by legendary director Cameron Crowe. He was directed by Chris Cambell in the music video Cheat Codes and by Joseph Lopes in Jill Davis’ video All Alone.

He was born in a small town in Québec and his first language was French Canadian. He knew early on that he was going to be a professional actor so he dropped out of school before he graduated high school, saved all his money from a job in a popular coffee house, got on a plane and came to L.A. Yannik immersed himself in acting and intensive acting classes, including Uta Hagen Scene Study, On camera Dynamics, Strasberg Technique, Shakespeare, Voice and Speech study and all these classes were taken at the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory (LAPAC) which he had to audition for in order to be accepted.

We might have left out an important element at the beginning of this piece. We should add persistence to talent, intelligence and drive. Once he decided to be a professional actor, Yannik jumped into it with both feet and never looked back. He undertook some of the most difficult and exhaustive acting courses taught by some of the best instructors in the world, went out and secured acting jobs and he followed through with his goal of being a professional actor.
