Let’s meet Natalie, a talented published author

Natalie is a published author from Salyersville, Kentucky. We recently interviewed her for our magazine, sharing it with our readers here.

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into writing?
Natalie : Before I became an author, I worked as a translator. I would translate books from French and Spanish into English or the other way around. So I was already very familiar with how publishing works and I knew how to construct a manuscript pretty well. I had always wanted to write a book, but never had the motivation to do so until Jason died. I used writing as a way of releasing every emotion that I felt, and it did help quite a bit.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us about your recent release “Fourteen Day Fiancé”?
Natalie : My book “Fourteen Day Fiancé” is a memoir. It tells the tragic story of how my fiancé was killed in a car crash, on the day I bought my wedding dress which was also the 14th day we had been engaged, hence the title. He was killed by someone he knew, and everything was covered up, resulting in me not getting closure.
In my book, I also talk about the struggles of PTSD and what it’s like to live with it.

Pro Media Mag : Putting your painful memories into writing would have eased the pain a bit?
Natalie : What eased the pain the most for me was therapy. I had to have mental help, if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have made it through this. My faith also played a major role. I fully believe God healed and restored me, but it definitely took some time. As I mentioned earlier, writing was one of the few ways that I was able to express my feelings. Writing the book was painful at first, because I had to relive those memories of death in order to tell my story. Gradually, though, It got better and was less painful. I haven’t reread the book since the final editing stage, and I don’t plan on it. That chapter of my life has closed and it needs to stay that way.

Pro Media Mag : What kind of response you have received?
Natalie : I’ve received mixed responses. Some have been really positive, almost celebratory. Then, of course, there’s always bad responses. There’s always gonna be haters, but I stand behind everything I said in my book.

Pro Media Mag : What’s the best part of being an author?
Natalie : The best part of being an author is allowing my mind to create something that will inspire others. My story would have never been told if I had not written it. Though most of my work is non-fiction, I’ve debated on dabbling into the world of fiction writing. What better way to escape the real world than to create your own?

Pro Media Mag : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Natalie : One goal I have set is to draw attention to injustice. This happens all over the world, and it needs to stop.

Pro Media Mag : Are you working on any new project?
Natalie : Yes, I am currently working on a new book. This story a follow up to my current book. A story of how my life changed for the better after I lost everything. I plan to have the new book done by the end of this year.
