Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
åge riisnes : Hi I am åge riisnes, owner of an electronic/newage band called Harlequins Enigma. I live in norway, in bergen by the west coast. I have reached the age of 48. Harlequins Enigma was founded by me & my muse Sara Jensen back in 2008. I have been a busy creature since I was young when I got introduced to the amiga computer, where they had a program called protracker, which was a four channel sequencer to make music. This was back in 1991/1992. The experience I had back then was zero. soI did not know what a hi-hat was & in the beginning I made errors in rhythm & my melodies were pretty silly.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
åge riisnes : After the amiga music got better back in in 1993-1997, i thought about making a career as a gamemusic composer, but the amiga went down the drain these years, so i quit. after hischool in 1997 i took a 7-8 years break & started to miss the music again. i was later introduced to maniacs of noise in march 2008. some mods (amiga music) were made, & after that again in may 2008 harlequins enigma was founded where i met edgar froese, jerome froese, klaus schulze, kitaro & other musicians spiritually. the whole thing in this period led to some coops with them & they were supportive through my debut years (16bit), in 2008-2010, & some like klaus schulze, were at my side in the  comeback years in 2013-2018.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ?
åge riisnes : My latest 4 releases were singles from 2019 summer, they are called girls from India, moral game, steamy kitchen & réso (underground city), indeed varied material. i felt as i wasn’t good enough anymore to complete the tracks cause i’m getting hacked while i think. so the disturbances leads to dizzyness & fatigue. so i struggle with schizofrenia for the last 20 years. & i also have developed me, muscle disease/fatigue illness.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
åge riisnes : I have not made much response from my music lately. reso did get some hits at spotify & echo of the dolphins is appreciated at n1m. earlier td sound has gotten some attention, feat. tangerine dream & klaus schulze.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
åge riisnes : My favourite music genre might be space atmospheres & innocent dance tracks like our own: the hunt (l’ amour). i’m maintaining my balance of darkness & the light, & put my heart up for the fight!

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
åge riisnes : After getting eaten alive by the industry, it gives me a kick or a feeling inside when i compose something new. no one will ever take that from me. the joy of it, when you manage to make something that makes ripples in the water. another thing is with a hit you might go into history remembered.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
åge riisnes : I used to have a goal to make enough money from my music to buy a house & a car. but we are not making much money. i used to dream about my poetry to release a poetry collection, but i’m not sure it would be a good idea.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
åge riisnes : I’m not currently working on new material – but do look us up on spotify, there’s plenty to hear 🙂 both darker sorts & light material also. new age material of waveforms & rhythmical dance tracks & rock n roll, jazz, u name it!
I wish contributors & readers of your pro media mag well, & hope they have success, i might get another chance to complete myself, to complete my desires! i’m not sure when it will be though, maybe it pops up from the ocean from an undine, or is beamed down by scotty!

🙂 – bye all. best wishes from åge riisnes.
