Interview with up and coming artist Nicholas Tomillon

Today on our Hot Seat we have young and inspiring artist Nicholas Tomillon with us. Let’s have a chat with him.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Nicholas Tomillon : Hi! My name is Nicholas Tomillon. I am 15 years old, from Richmond, Virginia. I love to express my emotions through my music, in hope to shine a light of clarity into others’ feelings and self-worth.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?
Nicholas Tomillon : When I was about 9 years old, my parents bought me one of the first generation iPods, and I started to find my profound love for music, especially genres that aroused my inner emotions. I would come home from school everyday and escape my reality through the music, which for a long time, was my only companion. A huge inspiration to me is Lana Del Rey, because of her revolutionary style of both jazz and modern pop, which I find to be very smart, and intriguing. Not only that, but seeing somebody go through the amount of hardships that she has, and still be able to inspire millions has always stuck with me.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent track ‘To My Father’?
Nicholas Tomillon : From my fondest memories, there always seems to be a common factor of abuse, which has derived from my dad. From a young age, I was hammered with the idea that I was never good enough. In his eyes, I never do anything right. Even today, he still finds ways to bring my self-worth down. The reason for my song, was to let others know that they are not alone. For a long time, I was scared to speak up, because I thought that no one would believe me.

Twist Online : What kind of response have you received from the release?
Nicholas Tomillon : The response to this song has been unimaginable. So many people have come out of the shadows, and spoken up about their own experiences. Many of the listeners have found hope in the realization that they are not the only ones that are or have gone through something like this.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Nicholas Tomillon : Actually, I haven’t performed live yet. I am in the process of hosting my first concert, and I am very excited about this. With that being said, the studio is a very happy and uplifting environment for me. It’s a place where I can bring my visions to life through music, which I am beyond grateful for.

Twist Online : Tell us about your achievements so far?
Nicholas Tomillon : My biggest achievement was the release of “To My Father”. This song has opened up so many doors for me, and has also introduced many relationships. Having over 75,000 streams on Spotify alone, and being aired on the radio, I can definitely say that this has been my biggest achievement yet.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Nicholas Tomillon : I hope to have some live shows lined up in the near future, along with some collaborations. I am looking forward to releasing my first music video, and eventually hitting the stage with some of my biggest inspirations, and one day I would like my name to be said in the same sentence as Troye Sivan’s.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new projects?
Nicholas Tomillon : I am currently working on my new EP, and I am so excited to release it. It’ll contain anywhere from 3-5 new songs, and hopefully I can produce a music video for at least 2 or 3 of them.
