Pro Media Mag: Who is Daniel Damilola Nejo

Daniel: A young bull. haha. Well, am a Nigerian born hustler and entrepreneur and a humongous believer in being the strongest version of myself. Am 23 years old, I was born and raised in Nigeria where everything started for me. Born into a polygamous home with my mother not present, I learnt from a very tender age to be self-reliant and kind of introverted.
Pro Media Mag: You mentioned you were born into a Polygamous home, how was your childhood like?

Daniel: Ermm. Well, that’s a long story and I’ll try to keep it as short as possible. Anyone who has an idea or experience of polygamy knows it’s a funny and tricky spot to be in especially as a child. I had to live and grow in the midst of my step moms and dad for some years. Those times were very challenging for me because I was exposed to some things that looking back now I know a kid shouldn’t have to be placed in that spot. But hey! Luckily for me, my Grandma came to pick me up and I stayed with her throughout my secondary and University years. My childhood wasn’t rosy but am excited about it because it formed part of who I am today.
Pro Media Mag:  How would you describe yourself?

Daniel: I’d says am a go-getter. I love, enjoy and breathe positive energy. A strong believer in the Law of Attraction. I surround myself with things and people who resonate with my energy. I love reading books, watching exciting and motivational YouTube videos, and I enjoy writing and sharing the things I have learnt and I know.

Pro Media Mag: What’s your educational background?

Daniel: I studied Computer Science in a Nigerian University and I had to learn the real computer science after school on my own through online courses and video tutorials. So much for spending 4 years in Uni. hahaha. And I just rounded up my Masters in Business Information Systems Management in London.
Pro Media Mag: How long have you been an Entrepreneur?

Daniel: I would say since I was a kid. I remember one time when I was 12, 13 or so…I saw logs of wood lying down in my dad’s compound and I thought to myself that those wood would not be used for anything and they were constituting nuisance to the compound, so I broke the wood into smaller pieces, tied them up and carried them to nearby food sellers who cooked with firewood. The demand increased and I had to get a partner (my street friend) to help me assemble and also carry more firewood to our customers and we would split the revenue. That isn’t my only childhood hustle memory but that’s the most interesting one I can remember right now.  Since then, I have sold things in Uni, on Facebook, on forums and anywhere I could sell. I can’t really put years tag on it but have been hustling for a while now 🙂

Pro Media Mag: What do you do now? What’s your hustle?

Daniel: Well, I love creative design, so my main hustle is digital designs and branding for Small to medium sized businesses. I provide them with online and offline brand-identity through my business – Presidential Ideas and whilst on my Masters course, I started to grow love and interest for the behind the scenes of big brand’s business strategies and what makes them successful, so I am currently on a path to becoming a business strategy consultant to SMEs.

Pro Media Mag: That’s interesting, In your opinion is everyone meant to be an Entrepreneur?

Daniel: Errrm. I don’t think so. Although I think everyone loves the idea of being their own boss, only few have the guts to be entrepreneurs. Gary Vaynerchuk said something I admire a lot, he said – “Some people have entrepreneurial tendencies and some are actually born entrepreneurs. Don’t ever confuse the two.”
For me, I cannot breathe in a full time job, I’ll suffocate. Am 23years old and I have never had a job in my life. I tried a temporary job in London to be the digital designer for a company in the city of London for 32 days, even though I was doing what I loved (design), the fact that I was placed in an office, given a chair and desk and have a time to go for lunch and close the day made me sick to my chest. I believe not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur because all those things I just listed as things that make me sick are what some people really like. So the same way everyone cannot be a 9-5er… I believe everyone cannot also be an entrepreneur.
Pro Media Mag: What’s your favourite quote and what is one thing people don’t know about you?

Daniel: My favourite quote is “If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later”. – Richard Branson.

Also, I might look and sound like an a fun person from my videos or how I interact with people but 2 things people don’t know about me is “I don’t drink and am really an introverted person who loves to dance a lot”
Pro Media Mag: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Daniel: I actually have a piece of paper that I read every day which contains my goals for the next 5years and even though I would love to share them with you, some of the contents is embarrassing. hahaha. But one thing I know for sure and I can visualise in 5years time is – Daniel Damilola Nejo becoming a brand. And me being in a position where I give back and empower people from the bottom with not too rosy backgrounds In Nigeria, and around the world.
