Interview with a multi-talented architect Brian Setencich

Today in our interview section we are having an interview with multi-talented Brian Setencich.

Pro Media Mag : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Brian Setencich : I’m Brian Setencich and I’m a career architect. I specialize in flipping properties throughout the Chicago area, though I grew up in Florida and lately I’ve spent a good deal of time in Australia rafting and surfing. I believe in investing in myself and taking time off from work to stay productive.

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to become an architect?
Brian Setencich : I think for me it was more about being inspired to do a job where I can give back to the community and use my skills to improve the lives of those around me. With flipping houses I can turn a profit, but in doing so I also have the chance to work with different people all across the city and in many ways I get the ability to improve their lives. I can take a building that is under horrible conditions and fully restore the property to its former glory.

Pro Media Mag : We came to know you also have deep interest in real estate?
Brian Setencich : Yes I do. It started as a sort of side-effect to flipping properties since I have to purchase the property before I can do any work. As time went on I realized that I can use some of the profits I’ve earned over time to make larger scale investments and help develop a whole community rather than just a single property. Renovating a shopping center or a library or an apartment complex is a great way for me to scale up my operations and still give back.

Pro Media Mag : What’s the best part of being an architect?
Brian Setencich : The best part is absolutely the people. I’ve had a chance to work with hundreds of people across Chicago who I would otherwise not have had the opportunity to deal with. Everyone from my accountant to my construction staff to the customers and home owners. This gives me a highly diverse look at Americans in diverse circumstances which I feel is crucial for developing myself as a person.

Pro Media Mag : What are your hobbies?
Brian Setencich : I love all forms of travel and water sports. Particularly I’ve been doing a lot of surfing and white water rafting lately. Most recently I went to Australia for a few weeks with my family and we were able to visit all the famous landmarks.

Pro Media Mag : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Brian Setencich : For now I think I want to just continue scaling up my business and hopefully give opportunity to a whole new generation of architects in the future. I think business owners who experience success should pass that forward and work on developing their staff so that they too can own their own businesses and experience success if they choose to. At some point I’ll need to retire, so I want to know my business will be in good hands.

Pro Media Mag : Are you working on any new project?
Brian Setencich : Lately we’ve been experimenting with new technologies to help streamline the process and reduce the workload for our employees who are responsible for the heavy lifting. For example there are programs that render a 3D scale model of a property so we can knock out walls or change fixtures in a virtual model before breaking ground. This saves us a great deal of time and money as we get to see how things will look and plan the flow of the interior well ahead of time. It also cuts down on unintended complications.
