An Exclusive Interview with DJ Zel, The Youngest DJ in UK

Today in our Interview section we have a very talented and special guest DJ Zel. She is just 10 years old and she has already achieved so many awards and achievements including ‘Youngest DJ in UK’. Let’s have a chat with her.

Pro Media Mag : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
DJ Zel : I woke up one day and decided to be a DJ. I told my lovely mum but unfortunately she said NO to me and she said DJing are meant for boys not girls. My lovely dad travelled by that time so when he can back my grandmum who was spending the weekend with us told my dad that l said l wanted to be a DJ but mum refused unfortunately for me my dad also said NO. My daughter won’t be a DJ. My grandma spoke with my parents to see reasons with me. l cried and kept on putting pressure on them and quoting them children’s rights article 3. Best interest of the child. one day my parents decided to give me a go. My mum called her friend husband DJ Marcus if he was able to train me and he was happy. Recently l am having my DJing lessons at On The Rise Academy at Wembley with Terry learning more and new skills. 

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
DJ Zel : No one.

Pro Media Mag : You took music training from someone or some institute or it’s all naturally gifted?
DJ Zel : Naturally gifted. I discovered it when l was in year 2. and l am having a lessons at On The Rise Academy at Wembley with Terry to learn more and new skills in the DJ industry.

Pro Media Mag : How does it feel to be the youngest DJ in UK ?
DJ Zel : I feel blessed to be the youngest female DJ to play on the radio station. 

Pro Media Mag : You have performed at so many places and events, what’s your best performance so far?
DJ Zel : I have so many best performance but my favourite one was the High School Music Awards in Ghana at the National Theatre.

Pro Media Mag : You got plenty of achievements and awards, you must be very proud of yourself?
DJ Zel : I am very pride of myself because hard work pays.

Pro Media Mag : Our readers would love to know about the parents of such a talented lovely young girl and your family background?
DJ Zel : My lovely parents are Mr Reginald Manteaw and Mrs Jennifer Manteaw, my sister Josephine Manteaw. My parents are Ghanaians from Ghana but British citizens.
