Exclusive Interview with Actor Karan Choudhary

Read below an exclusive interview with multi talent actor, director, producer Karan Choudhary !

What led you to pursue the entertainment industry?

Growing up in a small community and poor circumstances always gave me anxiety about what would I do with my life. At a very early age, and as much as I remember, I knew I wouldn’t die unknown and leave a meaningful legacy behind. This mindset gave me the confidence to take risks and try new things. One thing led to another and here I am pursuing my career as an actor and filmmaker in America.

Who are your top producers, actors, and directors you aspire to work with in the future?

The list can go on and on if I would start speaking on this topic. But truly I would want to work with people who would challenge me to push to the limit, introduce me to something I never knew and bring the best out of me. Whether they are producers, directors, writer or actors, I want to be in the company of artists where I can grow and have the opportunity to use my potential to the fullest.

Do you have any stories on set you would like to share?

I have been on many many film sets as an actor and filmmaker. The story I would never forget while I was making my third film The Timepiece. We had a very long outdoor scene to shoot in New York in summers. It took us about 8 hours to finish the scene, My whole team was very happy and we got everything covered. About 2 months later I was editing the film with my editor friend and we find out that we don’t have sounds for that long scene. So we had to reshoot the same scene in winters while wearing summer clothes and pretend its a sunny day but it was ridiculously cold to shoot. I hope I never make that mistake again.

What are some of the biggest challenges you had to face when you moved to America to pursue acting?

It was a very bold and risky decision to move to a different country. I never lived in another country before so I had no idea what’s it like to be living in a western world. I couldn’t speak English properly when I first arrived here and I had a hard time communicating with people. The Immigration system is very complicated here and it always throws a curveball at you just when you think you are all set to pursue life here. Finding representation in this industry, making a living while struggling as an actor, staying away from your family/friends for a long time are some of the challenges that I had to face.

Karan, you are an Actor, but you also have great experience in writing, directing, and even producing, what is the next project you are working on?

I’m currently in the process of writing my next short film about dating life and dating apps culture in metro cities. I hope to finish writing the script by this summer and start the pre-production in early fall.
