Interview with Educator and Humanitarian, Christine Reidhead

Interview with Educator and Humanitarian, Christine Reidhead

We are sharing our recent interview with Christine Reidhead, an educator and humanitarian. A very humble person, you will surely love our conversation with her.

Pro Media Mag : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Christine Reidhead : Hello! My name is Christine Reidhead, I am a College Business Professor at Navajo Technical University. I am the Founder and CEO of a Nonprofit Organization called AfrikRising. I also do some podcasting. I am a mother of two awesome young men and feel it is the greatest blessing in the world being a mother. I feel as though I am a lifelong learner and constantly searching for knowledge and skills I can build that will help me grow and improve.

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into this industry?
Christine Reidhead : What inspired me to get into this has always been there at a very young age. I grew up in a very competitive household and that inner drive was instilled in me at a young age. Because of that, I have always had a huge drive for success. It was geared towards sports early in my life, but now that has passed and has now turned to my career. I compete with myself. I get up every morning thinking how can I become better today than I was yesterday. This inner drive really keeps me going and if I don’t have a project I’m working on, I feel incomplete. Gradually over the years I have built up my humanitarian efforts, become an educator, a podcaster and now an author.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us about your education background?
Christine Reidhead : I have an undergraduate degree in Education from Prescott College and a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Leadership and Organizational Development from Grand Canyon University. I also feel that being on the Board of Habitat for Humanity and Family Promise of Albuquerque has provided an education into the nonprofit world and has helped me to develop my own nonprofit.

Pro Media Mag : What exactly is AfrikRising?
Christine Reidhead : It is a nonprofit organization that’s fairly new but has had immediate success. We provide basic needs, services and education to the underserved in Africa. This is very gratifying for me and our team to be able to impact children’s lives. Africa is one of the poorest continents in the world, and then you take the children who are cast out among that group and you get the poorest of the poor. Our goal is to make an impact in their lives and provide them with a little bit of hope. We aim to help change the world one child at a time.

Pro Media Mag : It seems you feel satisfaction in performing social activities.
Christine Reidhead : I do, and love to serve others. Especially, the underserved and those needing the basic needs to live. I am very passionate about giving back and helping those who don’t have the opportunity to help themselves. Any of us could very easily have been in their situation and I would hope that if that was me someone would be willing to help me. I feel great satisfaction with even just the smallest project. The great humanitarians inspire me to become better every day and to see how I can improve the world a little bit at a time.

Pro Media Mag : Tell me a little about your new book.
Christine Reidhead : I just published a book called How to Ace a Job Interview: A Simple Guide to Landing Any Interview. This book is a quick read. I wanted to produce something simple but effective. Readers will learn the three types of interviews and the steps to being prepared for each of them. It also shows the three stages of the interview process before, during and after the interview. It discusses the 12 most common job interview questions and how to best answers them and 10 common job interview mistakes and how to avoid them.

This book will help readers gain the confidence they need for any interview. In as much as there is no on-size-fits-all method to acing a job interview, clearly because jobs and interviewers differ, there is a regular pattern that informed all the suggestions in this book which will work for you like it has been working for others if you follow it closely.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us about your podcasts.
Christine Reidhead : Currently, I am doing four podcasts. Be the Change Nonprofit Podcast where I interview nonprofit organizations and give them a platform to discuss their organizations. I feel like nonprofits do not have the funds or marketing ability to get the coverage they need to showcase their mission and what great work they are accomplishing. I also do a sports podcast with my brother called, Sports Talk with Sheldon and Christine. In this podcast, we discuss weekly sporting news. The third podcast is The Tribal College Movement. I speak with Tom Davis who is one of the founders of the Tribal College Movement. This podcast is full of rich history of the Tribal College Movement. Lastly, I do a podcast called, The Life of Mark Poulsen. Mark was the Vice President of Motorola and just a great, great man.

Pro Media Mag : Are you working on any new project?
Christine Reidhead : Yes, we have several projects planned for AfrikRising. I also have been working on another book that will be forthcoming. I’m looking into developing a business seminar series at our university and adding another podcast.
