Pro Media Mag : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers?
Doc Dalton : That’s extremely difficult to do for me. Name is Doc Dalton and I think different than most people. My approached and outlook come from a totally different place. My family is my world but true friendship counts a lot for me. I don’t like phonies; I detest make believe big shots. I despise people who act as if they know everything while all understand they don’t. I do not give a rat’s ass how much money you have or how big your house is because that does not mean a thing to me or God. What is important, is your heart and the kindness you show toward others. If you are my friend, that is great and if you are not my friend, that is equally as great. It all boils down to, it’s not what you have, it’s what you leave behind when you go that counts the most.

Pro Media Mag: If you could describe yourself to the world in few lines, what would you say.
Doc Dalton: I would say I could be the eccentric Love Child of Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson if they could have had a baby together. I look at the world in a totally different way and approached that same world in a different way. I consider myself delightful on the inside with a side dish of humor and pain on the outside followed by a heart that truly cares for others.

Pro Media Mag : You are known as ‘America’s Simple Man’ What’s the reason behind this?
Doc Dalton : It’s important for me to keep life and everything around it as simple as possible. The world is already difficult and at times out of control. You could find a way to bring life and what the extra things you do down to the simplest form. Your day, your life, your business and your peace of mind will be much better off. America’s Simple Man means, Where Common Sense and Simplicity Equal Success, Today, Tomorrow and Every day.

Pro Media Mag: Can you tell us something personal about you or your feelings
Doc Dalton: At one time I cared about what people thought – now I don’t. I can’t change the world, but I can change myself. I hope my actions and words can help someone along the way even if it’s just one person, it was all worth it. To those who like me, I thank them and to those who don’t like me, that’s OK as well because they weren’t suppose to be my friends in the first place.

Pro Media Mag: You mentioned something about friends in a previous question. Can you tell us something about your friends.
Doc Dalton: Some of my best friends are the ones inside my head. They have made me laugh, they have made me cry and and we have gone through some very tough and dark times together. But those friends in my head are loyal and they cared about me when I didn’t care about my self. And I am grateful to them all. I hope that doesn’t shake your readers up to much.

Pro Media Mag: You mentioned about being grateful. What are some of the things you really appreciate in life.
Doc Dalton: My family and make no mistake about it. My wife drives me crazy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. She has many years of practice and has it down to perfection.  My daughter acts more like my mother than my daughter and is and was the apple of my eye until she gave me a granddaughter. Now my little Booba takes my heart to places I never thought my heart could go to. Even my son in law, he is a great man and I respect him a lot and even more, he is a wonderful father.
Pro Media Mag : Tell us about 15 years’ experience of working as a manager for pro wrestling?
Doc Dalton : It was fun and exciting. It was different in countless ways which meant every step along the way would be a surprise. I am happy to say, I look back on those times with a smile on my face and along with that I made some good friendships and some good memories. If I had to do it all over again, I would for sure.

Pro Media Mag : You also hosted ‘Body Slam on Drugs’. Its format seems to be tough ask?
Doc Dalton : This was a great surprise to say the least. A local North Jersey Police Department had a full set up for TV production within their own department. They knew I was involved with pro-wrestling and contacted me about hosting a show in association with them and that is was going to be a children’s cable show. To me, it seemed like the right thing to do and I wanted to do it. Out of that meeting, Body Slam on Drugs was born. The showed air for over 3 years and we received countless letters of support from such people as, Governors, Senators, Congressmen, Former President Jimmy Carter, Police, Schools and Parents and Children. Again, friendships were made and two of the best friendships came to be with Officer Lenny Azzarone and a gentleman who worked with the show from a studio he owned, Pat Muricki. It was positive and great.

Pro Media Mag : Have you ever faced some bad patch in your life?
Doc Dalton : We all have in one way or another. Depression was a big part of my life and controlled me and drove me to some dark places. I was hospitalized twice and it was scary as hell. I thought about things that seemed to never leave my mind. It has been a struggle and I still deal with it every day but there are things that I try to do to keep my head in the right place. If you don’t have it, you can’t understand it so the worst thing that someone can say is, I understand where our coming from because that is 100% Bull    S _ _ _, YOU DON’T. Try to be there for that person, try to comfort them, let them no you are there and you are concerned and just be aware.

Pro Media Mag: You talk about family and being grateful and all the time that has gone by. What and where does age come in to play.
Doc Dalton: With age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes understanding. Because of this I think I can bring a little hope to folks by showing them how its OK to be just you and only you no matter what age you are. No need to be a phoney, No need to be a make believe big shot. Let the world embrace you for just being you. Your truly good enough and It could be a beautiful thing. And for those who said age is only a number, they lied, the higher the number, the higher the pain that comes along with it.

Pro Media Mag : You also wrote a number of poems It must a completely unique experience for you?
Doc Dalton : Poetry flat out saved my life. While in the hospital a doctor suggested I try my hand out poetry. The truth is, I thought he was crazier than I was. But I was locked up and wasn’t going anywhere so I tried and was completely surprised. I wrote and wrote and wrote. Haven’t stopped writing. My mind takes me to places I could haven’t even begun to think of. I haven’t written about things that are and were near and dear to me. I have written a lot of what I call God poetry that has helped me greatly. It has saved my life because poetry for whatever reason, gives my mind a break and lets me think of countless other things.

its a God thing doc dalton
Pro Media Mag : 2 of your poems also got published in National Publication. You must have felt good at that time?
Doc Dalton : It was wonderful and fulfilling all in one. One of the poems was titled, When Gods Angel Became My Friend, and it was a true story about a young African American girl who I worked with who for whatever reason caught on that I was sick. She never left my side and helped me get through my days for month after month. She said some of the kindest things to me and would tell me all would be alright. Then one day she said to me, sometimes at night when I pray I fall asleep while praying. But last night I sat up and ask the Lord to protect you, bless you and watch over you. Those words have always stuck in my mind and she was my angel who became my friend and that poem was just for her. The other poem was titled, Lord Did You Forget About Me and the truth is, I thought he did. I am happy to say I was wrong, and he is always with me.

Pro Media Mag: Can you give us the last 4 lines in the most recent poem you have written.
Doc Dalton: The title of the poem is, “A Shot of Cuervo and Some Jesus to Go”

I’ve Prayed like Hell, to the Heavens up above
To ask for his mercy and even more, for his love
I’m tattered and torn, don’t know how much more I can go
Hey bartender, I’ll take a shot of Cuervo, and some Jesus to go.

Pro Media Mag : You also worked as Radio Host, how was it different from Hosting a cable show?
Doc Dalton : I have hosted a few shows but two of my favorites where Outlaws 4 Christ Radio and Outlaw and the Blues. Both shows aired on the internet but they also aired on WNJC 1360 AM out of Philadelphia. The coverage was great because we aired thought Southern Jersey, Eastern PA, all of Philly, Most of Delaware and Maryland. We received countless messages from folks who liked the shows. I am happy to say that we are bringing back, Outlaws 4 Christ Radio in early 2017 after 5 years off the air waves.

Pro Media Mag : What inspired you to get into writing books?
Doc Dalton : Poetry was the key reason that drove me in to writing books. None of my books are over 100 pages. If you have something to say, let’s say it and move on. I have a total of 8 books planned between now and the end of 2018. Most of them are poems and short stories about those poems. I get to express myself through my poems followed by the reason and the how’s and the whys that brought me to writing those words. Most of my books is what I would call Spiritual in nature. It’s Doc Dalton Books published through Martin James Publishing.

Pro Media Mag : From what or where you got so much motivation to fight a severe disease like Sarcodosis?
Doc Dalton : Sarcoidosis (pronounced SAR-COY-DOE-SIS) is an inflammatory disease that can affect almost any organ in the body. It causes heightened immunity, which means that a person’s immune system, which normally protects the body from infection and disease, overreacts, resulting in damage to the body’s own tissues. The classic feature of sarcoidosis is the formation of granulomas, microscopic clumps of inflammatory cells that group together (and look like granules, hence the name). When too many of these clumps form in an organ they can interfere with how that organ functions.
It impacted my life greatly, from my lungs, to my eyes, to my skin, to my ability to walk and have balance. What I also learned was, it had a connection to depression and when you feel bad day in and day out, you will get depressed. If this disease sounds familiar at all to you it might be because comedian Bernie Mac had it and it was associated with his death. It’s not something I would wish on anyone but then again, there are many people who suffer from different things that they wouldn’t wish on others.

Pro Media Mag: You talk about Jesus a lot, can you give us your true thoughts on him.
Doc Dalton: I am not a holy roller by know means. But I am a Believer 100% and embrace that in my own way. Yea, Jesus and I have had a few good talks and I know I have made him crazy along the way. But he is my good friend and has stayed by my side through thick and thin.  It’s just nice to know I can close my eyes and put my head back and and take a moment and say thank you to him. It means a lot. I never leave home without him, what’s in your heart.

Pro Media Mag: What goals to have for the future.
Doc Dalton: To survive to tomorrow without killing myself today. To appreciate the world and what it has to offer me and it could be as simple as the passing of the breeze, the sparkle of the brightest stars in the sky or just watching a bird fly from one tree to the next. Of course there has to be a good cup of coffee involved with all this.

I also want to write more, both poetry and books and I would love to be on Oprah’s, Super Soul Sunday for a number of reasons. One being, because I believe I would make a good guest because I have a lot to offer in my own special yet, different way. I really do admire her ‘Oprah”, just something about her and the way she does her thing, it’s refreshing. I remember watching her show and I would always notice the look in her studio audiences eye’s. They were always excited about seeing her. It didn’t matter if the black or white, short or tall, heavy or thin. They were their for one reason and one reason only, to see her and that’s a wonderful quality to have.

Pro Media Mag: Thank you so much for letting us interview. It was for sure,  delightful and enjoyably different.
Doc Dalton: Let me thank you for having me. I appreciate it very much for letting me get my thoughts, feelings and words out there. Blessings & Peace to you all.
