Valerie Warntz

Pro Media Mag : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Valerie Warntz : You know, it all began when I was a little girl. I have a lot of photos where I’m 2-3 years old trying to play the piano or singing to the radio. But I took my first serious steps at 9 years old, when I entered The Sviridov’s School Of Arts. Knowledge I got there really help me with composing my songs.

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Valerie Warntz : Lana Del Rey. I discovered her in 2013, and I can definitely say that I have never loved an artist as much as I love Lana. Though I can’t say that I can relate to the majority of her songs, I love her aesthetics and the way she expresses herself. She is very inspirational, talented and unique: just everything I love and admire in artists and in people generally.

Pro Media Mag : You have recently released lead-single Beach from upcoming EP Crazy Dreams. Our readers would like to know more about that?
Valerie Warntz : Yes. Many people thought that I Don’t Love You Anymore will be a lead-single, but I have chosen Beach because, in my opinion, this song is very chill and brings summer mood. Exactly what you need this season, isn’t it? I Don’t Love You Anymore is such a powerful one, but I just don’t want to represent this album with the sad song.

Pro Media Mag : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Valerie Warntz : Happily, many people liked it and told me, that this song gave them summer mood and feeling like they are relaxing on the beach. This is exactly what I wanted to hear! Cause this was the main idea and goal of this song.

Pro Media Mag : Any other track from the this EP that’s your favorite and you really liked working on it?
Valerie Warntz : You know, a year or even half a year ago I would definitely choose I Don’t Love You Anymore, but now I’d say… Ca$h! I listen to this one quite a lot. I just really love the new sound. Honestly, it’s really hard to choose a favorite song of mine because… I put my soul into every song I make so I love them all. They are kinda different though. Maybe my opinion has changed because now I have this stage in my life when I don’t wanna be as sad as I was at 16-17 years old when I wrote these songs.

Pro Media Mag : All the tracks of your EP are written by you?
Valerie Warntz : Yes: written, recorded and produced by me.

Pro Media Mag : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Valerie Warntz : Hard to choose. I love performing but especially on the big stages and to the big audience: I have been performing at small bars a lot, and it was new experience when I was a beginner, but now I don’t like it at all. I desire to play shows on big open-air festivals: this is truly incredible energy and atmosphere. On the other hand, I do love composing songs. The only thing I don’t love to do in studio — mixing. I try to do my best in it but this still requires a lot of professional knowledge which is very hard for singer-songwriter to handle.

Pro Media Mag : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Valerie Warntz : Of course, I want to develop my music, share it with more people, perform on big stages etc, but I think that the real joy and happines is not the destination, but the way. So I just keep going, keep living the moment with the support of my fans. I will always be grateful to all of them no matter if they started listening to me years back when I was just a beginner or just joined the fandom today. All of them are very important for me. Much love.
