We recently had a conversation with an inspiring and passionate Security professional  Temidayo Akinwande. That will surely provide inspirations to those who are looking for job in security related profession.

Pro Media Mag : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers?
Temidayo Akinwande : My name is Temidayo Akinwande and I was born in Lagos, Nigeria sometimes in the late 80’s where I attended elementary, high school and some college. I later moved to the United States in 2010 where I attended a community college and graduated with an Associates degrees in Process Technology after which I went on to study Security Management at American Public University System and I’m very close to the completion of my degree there. I am married to a beautiful wife and we have been married for about two years now.

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to come into this profession?
Temidayo Akinwande : I will say growing up contributed a lot to that factor. Back in Nigeria, security had always been a main issue and before I left Nigeria, I had started a small security outfit that focused on every security. The positive reactions I got from clients and the people in general inspired me to push even further and I just continued to work towards being a security professional.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us a little about your job in Navy. How was your experience?
Temidayo Akinwande : I enlisted in the Navy in 2012, two years after relocating to the United States and that has been one of the best decisions of my life. I was offered different job opportunities also known as rates in Navy and one that really stuck out to me was Builder rate. Builders are one of the seven rates in the Navy that make up a group of individuals generally known as Seabees. I was then assigned to a mobile construction battalion known as NMCB 28 and a few months later, the unit decommissioned and then I later joined another unit known as Navy Region Japan. Sorry, that’s all I can say about that.

Pro Media Mag : What made you leave the Navy? Any particular reason?
Temidayo Akinwande : I originally enlisted in Reserves and till this day I am still in the Navy resevers. I have had the best opportunities come my way as a result so I have not had a reason to leave yet.

Pro Media Mag : You are working as a Security professional now. What’s the exact nature of your job now?
Temidayo Akinwande : I currently work as Classification Officer at the Harris County Sheriff’s office and I have held other security job titles in the paste such as Field Ops Officer and Loss Prevention Officer.

Pro Media Mag : You took some specific training or education for that job? How much helpful it’s proving to be in your job?
Temidayo Akinwande : Very helpful. Not only has my education played a major role and the hands on training I get on the job. I have also taken steps to learn more about the security field and acquired quite a number of certifications in security and safety.

Pro Media Mag : What are your hobbies in free time?

Every other week, I will visit to the gun range to sharpen my skills. I also like to hangout with my friends whom I rarely see and have a few drinks and chat about random things. Sometimes, I will to do things around the house and that usually involves light constructions and minor upgrades.
