We are sharing our recent interview with Acamea Deadwiler, a former Top 100 Contributor on Yahoo.com, an author, and most recently the creator of the Pick A Post quotes app and online store.
Pro Media Mag : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Acamea Deadwiler : My first professional writing gig was with an online publication called Examiner. I was assigned to cover local basketball events and teams in Chicago. So I went to a lot of games, and loved it.
Pro Media Mag : Is there anyone who inspired you to get into this field?
Acamea Deadwiler : Not one person in particular. I have just always had a passion for writing and being creative.
Pro Media Mag : You have been in the Top 100 Contributors on Yahoo.com. That must be exciting and need real skills?
Acamea Deadwiler : Haha… It was definitely a great accomplishment for me. One of my proudest moments. When you love what you do and you’re creating something, it’s very personal to you. It’s one thing to think you’re good at what you do, but to have a publication as widely respected as Yahoo recognize that was very special. It took me a few years of working on my craft to get to the necessary level of quality. I definitely had to hone my writing skills. I was covering the Chicago Bulls for Yahoo! Sports.
Pro Media Mag : What was the inspiration or motive behind launching Pick A Post?
Acamea Deadwiler : I just wanted to create something positive, that could inspire people. We’re so connected to our phones, an app is just a great way to reach a large number of people. It’s as much for me as it is for others though. Since I write all of the quotes, the app gives me a space to express myself and share some thoughts.
Pro Media Mag : Can you elaborate it a little to our readers how does it work?
Acamea Deadwiler : The Pick A Post app can be downloaded on Apple, Android and Amazon Kindle devices. From there users can post the quotes directly to social media, email, or save to their camera roll. You can also shop the online store through the app.
Pro Media Mag : What kind of response it has received?
Acamea Deadwiler : The response has been great! The app has received hundreds of downloads in just a few months, and all of the items purchased from the store have received 5-star reviews. There is also a devoted Instagram following. It’s a great feeling for someone to comment there and say that a quote helped them in some way.
Pro Media Mag : Any plans of adding more kind of products to your store? By the way there are already so many categories.
Acamea Deadwiler : I’m always looking to keep the store fresh with quotes and items that may resonate with people. So, I will continually add things here and there to make sure there is a variety to choose from.
Pro Media Mag : Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Acamea Deadwiler : Just that with so much negativity surrounding us everyday, I hope that they will find something positive to hold on to – Whether that’s with my quotes app or something else. I think it’s so important to have that balance in life.
