GIGI CAPPETTA interview

Pro Media Mag : First of all please tell us about the start of your professional career?
GIGI CESARE : The start of my professional career was a shaky one for certain. My parents had some difficulty holding my interest finding any particular sport or activity.

They tried me in dance, soccer, cheer-leading, tap, ballet, you name it. Then my dad thought my mom should try letting me do commercials. My mom was completely against it. It took a few years but once she gave into the idea and I went on my very first commercial job, my career quickly began to spiral upward in a flurry of small film roles in films in NYC.

Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into Entertainment industry?
GIGI CESARE : Like most kids Disney and Nickelodeon were my very first awe-inspiring look at kids my own age on tv and I’m sure this is clichè but I knew then and there it was for me. There was always music in my house growing up, everything from jazz greats Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole to the original 1970’s Annie soundtrack, and modern music, so jumping up on a table and belting out Barry Manilow’s Copacabana was very much the norm.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us about your recent project ?
GIGI CESARE : I have two exciting things happening at the moment, I have just been nominated for an Imagen Award incredibly in the same category as Salma Hayek and Eva Longoria. The awards dinner is next month in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Wilshire August 18, 2017. I am also about to reprise my role as Jessy in the international hit movie franchise Street, in Street 2 Death Fight, alongside Transformer’s Mark Ryan and many more talented actors. We begin shooting in October. I’m so excited!

Pro Media Mag : How does it feel to win Young Entertainer Award for Best Supporting Actress?
GIGI CESARE : It was quite a surprise. I hadn’t prepared a speech because my mom had said not to expect anything, that it was just an honor to be considered. That acceptance speech and my shock are forever captured on Youtube. I don’t even remember what I said! It was humbling, especially to be among other industry kids whom I admire and well I’m also their fan. Its one thing to be in an audition room with other kids from TV and film, but its really another to be recognized the way the Young Entertainer Awards did. It was like a mini Oscars. Very elegant, very exciting.

Pro Media Mag : Your best movie so far ?
GIGI CESARE : Oh wow, that’s like choosing my favorite parent! Each is special, I mean, Street franchise has given me this beautiful opportunity to play Jessie years ago and for many years to come. I will literally grow up with her. I am forever grateful to Lyle Howry for this opportunity in Street. My role as Nina in The kids From 62-F has resulted in being nominated for a 2017 Imagen Award among Hollywood A-list! How could I possibly choose between them? There are also roles I shot in NYC that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Pro Media Mag : Any particular kind of role you would love to do?
GIGI CESARE : I would love to play in a film or series that involved a horses and riding. That is a particular dream, so is doing something like Splash or Aquamarine playing a mermaid. But those are my normal kid type dream roles, other roles would be anything European, unique and interesting. Maybe something Italian, there are a lot of Italian filmmakers I admire.

Pro Media Mag : Have you set some goals to achieve?
GIGI CESARE : I plan to emancipate or what’s called LEGAL 18, where you can fast track through school and then legally work longer hours on set. This is really important to me, I want to act for a very long time. I don’t lead a normal kind of childhood, but I know I am very lucky to do what I do and I never forget that. Other goals are eventually doing a series, I do mostly film.

Pro Media Mag : Are you working on any new project?
GIGI CESARE : I have a few big meetings coming up in addition to Street 2 Death Fight and also a really cool novel adaptation of The King’s Prophecy: The Amulet where I will play Exandra the lead in a really cool film that has castle, princess, horses, unicorns, kings, swords – the whole lot. Thank you for having me!
