Darius Slaughter is the author of an Amazon best-seller titled “Hostile: An Urban Tragedy.” He is expected to release Hostile II in 2020. He recently released his merchandise line as well. We are sharing our recent interview with him.
Pro Media Mag : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Darius Slaughter : Hi. My name is Darius Slaughter, better known as the Joker- the author of the #1 best-selling Amazon E-book “Hostile: An Urban Tragedy.” I am known by multiple names/definitions, and I am at base a man–another name or number lost in the Urban myth/fantasy of the drug trade/street game.
Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into writing?
Darius Slaughter : I actually started writing at an early age–short stories, poetry, and more. I won state in journalism in high school and several national writing contests as well while simultaneously living a duel life hustling to make ends meet and get by.
Pro Media Mag : What made you write the book book Hostile: An Urban Tragedy?
Darius Slaughter : HOSTILE is, in its purest form, a collection of memories. Above and beyond that, it is a testimony–not the glorification found in most ‘hood books’ or rap songs, nor is it a knock or me ‘preaching’ about the detriments of hood life, but rather an intelligent look at my mental motivation, my decisions, and the consequences and repercussions of my decisions. Ultimately, I hope to let my mistakes and the mistakes of my comrades supersede the mistakes of the youth and young adults who read/hear my testimony. Hopefully they can forego our disasters and losses and go on to live happy, productive lives.
Pro Media Mag : You must be happy with the kind of response you have received?
Darius Slaughter : Honestly, I am stunned. Above and beyond entertainment value, the diverse reaction from so many different demographics is beyond amazing. The most moving is from individuals who have been through similar situations – some in their 30’s and 40’s who say they haven’t read a book since middle school- and the respect from those who empathize and sympathize with my life’s disasters.
Pro Media Mag : What is the role of your service dog,Doom,in your life?
Darius Slaughter : DOOM provides a level of stability in day to day life and is invaluable as a travel companion. He is a priceless ice breaker when I’m speaking to at-risk-youth/young adults and those caught up in the throes of street life. As a breed ambassador both he and I challenge the stereotypes of convicts and pit bulls together as we travel and interact in different charity events, speaking engagements, etc.
Pro Media Mag : Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Darius Slaughter : The state of the world continues to spiral out of control as the learned and blessed seem to pull farther and farther back from society and its problems. Generation X, born to teenage mothers and one parent homes, are being raised by social media, corrupt news outlets, video games, and unrealistic expectations of life are in ever increasing peril as they seek to enter society. I would challenge everyone to stand up in some shape, form, or fashion and be the difference that is needed in the world.

Darius Slaughter : HOSTILE II: HOMECOMING is set to release summer 2020 and the new HOSTILE BOOK GEAR marketplace is now active at teepublic with the hottest new designs and gear. The HOSTILE soundtrack will also release next year with several up and coming music artists highlighted as they support the HOSTILE movement.
