Alberto Accettulli: In Perfect Freestyle

Italian-born, Alberto Accettulli credits growing up in Genoa as an inspiration for his filmmaking. As a child, Alberto was surrounded by history and amazing architecture. He spent his youth with young artists, DJs, skaters and BMX-ers. “I literally grew up in a perfect freestyle environment and the architecture of the city was perfect,”

Following years as a freestyle BMX rider, and in need of sponsors, Alberto made a video to impress would-be investors and sponsors. His professional career began as a freestyle mountain bike rider from 2000 to 2006 – the first Italian rider to be part of a North American team called Kona Klump. Sponsored by Nike, Alberto

participated in the most prestigious events, including the Red Bull District Ride. Alberto’s success earned him notoriety – he was features on three covers of international magazines.

While competing, Alberto filmed his friends and his own performances with a Canon XM1 camera and fell in love with editing the films. Soon, Alberto realized that he excelled behind the camera, rather than in front of it. Since 2007, Allberto focused on filmmaking, shooting videos for action sports brands such as Nike, Red Bull, and Eastpak. His love of action sports drove him to shoot cars and motorcycles. “I love to capture action, movement, in every form. My professional sports background has been a very important factor in developing my unique filming style.”  Alberto’s professional sports background has been a very important factor in developing his unique filming style. He applies innovative solutions to shoot scenes, thinking outside the box. “I love to shoot by following the subject on my skateboard, or by using skis or even a snow mobile.”

Alberto Accettulli is currently based in Los Angeles, filming worldwide for major agencies – Leo Burnett, BBDO, Dentsu, JWT, Hakuhodo, McCann and Armando Testa, creating commercials for theirclients including: Honda, Ducati, Chevrolet, Visa, Jeep, Giorgio Armani, Nike, Red Bull, Kawasaki, Nestlè, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo.
