Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into writing?

Rishabh Dubey : I have always been a garrulous, gregarious being. I used to love hearing stories, theories and mythologies from others… Still do. Moreover, I have always loved sharing some anecdote, experience or work of imagination of my own. Long-time back, I started jotting it all down just for the sake of it. Eventually, I realized what I can do with so much information flowing to and fro from my brain. Thus, I took it upon myself to give a much more definite structure and flow to it all, and went on to complete my first novel in 2012.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us about your recent work ?

Rishabh Dubey : For the past five years or so, I have been trying to gather more and more factual as well as historical information regarding the Religions prevalent in India. It all started when I took a trip to the heavenly backwaters of Alappuzha, Kerela. Since then, I have been actively trying to divert my travel expenses towards underrated cultural and historical hubs of the nation. I have completed my third novel, which is on the collective intent and ideologies of all major faiths and religions in India. It is going to release in the second quarter of 2019. Other than that, I write stories and poems and try to keep my readers engaged till the time I can deliver the product that they have longed for.

Pro Media Mag : What’s the best part of being an author?

Rishabh Dubey : I think it is both the best part as well as the toughest responsibility, that you have a Universe in your palms which you can manipulate as per your whims and fancies. The entitlement is very rewarding when the reader appreciates it… otherwise, it can be a curse if you get carried away with it.

Pro Media Mag : You seem to have a good taste for music, any plans for taking music a bit more seriously?

Rishabh Dubey : I never had any formal training so I cannot say I am a professional or maybe even desire to be one. I am, though, a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Music and also a passionate composer. I have written some sixteen songs and have finalised the rhythm and music for around ten of them. After the launch of my third book, I would be working on releasing my first official Album. It is entitled ‘Don’t Give Up’, and contains around six (tentatively) English compositions.

Pro Media Mag : What do you enjoy the most, writing, traveling, entertainment or anything else?

Rishabh Dubey : I would go with the last option. What I love the most is spending time with my family. It is not as close to as monotonous and ‘normal’ it sounds. I belong to a family of a bunch of over-excited, overwhelmingly happy, ecstatic and dynamic megalo-maniacs. We all love travelling, watching all kinds of movies, listening to all genres of music, dancing, talking, jamming, and what not. We all have passions for hugely different things in life and hence have a persistent diversified aura engulfing the house.

Pro Media Mag : You are also pursuing a five-year technical-management course at NMIMS, to support your cause?

Rishabh Dubey : Two reasons. Firstly, I wanted to get the customary out of the way as soon as possible. Doing engineering, followed by an MBA, is considered the ideal combination for a socially acceptable youngster in India. Not that I care too much about the orthodox societal norms. Neither does my family. It is just that the toll it takes on me by pursuing the course is much less than the one which it takes by addressing the interrogatives. Secondly, it is, in fact, something which is teaching me a lot both technically and professionally. I might not be utilising the majority of what I am learning in my pursuits in life; nevertheless, the small fraction which will turn out to be useful can only be exclusively learnt in such courses.

Pro Media Mag : What’s makes you stand out, what’s your best quality?

Rishabh Dubey : I wouldn’t yet dare to consider myself a contemporary to the best in any of the fields I am pursuing, be it writing, music, entertainment, Etcetera. I had always wanted to just reach the milestone of ‘Good Enough’, after which I could have begun my true journey. I believe I have definitely crossed that milestone. Personally, I think the best quality of mine is my ability to actively converse with anyone about anything, ranging from Indian Daily Soaps to Global Politics to Mythologies to Astrophysics, Etcetera. Not that I know everything; just that nothing disinterests me. I deduce quick inferences and formulate and place my objective opinions. It helps me socialise and more importantly empathise.

Pro Media Mag : What’s up next?

Rishabh Dubey :  I love surprising myself with my instantaneous eccentricities. I have been time again quoted saying- ‘”I have a plan” is not a good plan’. Planning too descriptively renders you unprepared for its failure. Of course, readiness and caution are extremely important. I will just make the best of what life throws at me. If it works out, I’d smirk and pretend how it was all a part of my plan. If not, well… life never stops throwing things at you, does it?

That was really an interesting conversation indeed with a very inspiring person. We definitely enjoyed it. For further updates and news about Rishabh Dubey you can follow him on Instagram. Or you can also visit his website  or Follow him on Facebook Page.
